The 48th Annual Chicken Barbecue, Car Show and Auction will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2008, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., on the grounds of Cross Keys Village – The Brethren Home Community.
Barbecue chicken meals will be available for dining on-site, and a convenient drive-thru will be provided for take-out. Chicken sales begin at 10:15 a.m.
The auction of quilts and other collectibles and antiques will be held in Nicarry Meetinghouse beginning at 1:00 p.m. Items to be auctioned may be previewed on Friday, August 8, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and on Saturday morning prior to the auction.
The car show is expected to attract 100 or more classic (1972 and earlier) cars, including street rods. The cars will be displayed on the lawn between Assisted Living and U.S. Route 30, as well as in and around the Assisted Living parking lot (near the intersection of U.S. 30 and PA Route 94. Trophies are awarded to best-in-class and best overall cars.
New for 2008 will be a Children’s Area, with some popular inflatable play structures and other attractions.
Live Music will be provided during the day, with shaded seating available. Vendors of all kinds will be on-site throughout the day, including:

Used Books
Collectible Stamps
Pork BBQ and other hot foods
Pie & Ice Cream
Kettle Corn & other snacks
Plants
The Bee Hive Gift Shop and the Almost New Shop, both located in the Main Building adjacent to the vendor area, will be open throughout the day and will have outside display areas as well.
Proceeds support the activities of the Brethren Home Auxiliary, including the Good Samaritan Fund, which helps residents who can no longer pay for their own care.
