Construction has begun!

Construction Update - Week of Nov. 26

If you need a dump truck this week, you might be out of luck, because it looks like they’re all at Cross Keys. Moving earth has given way to RE-moving earth, and excavation of the basement area has begun, so at some times as many as three different pieces of equipment are loading trucks. We may need a stoplight at the entrance to the construction site (just kidding).

Check out the “Featured Project” at http://www.brechbillandhelman.com the website of general contractor Brechbill and Helman of Chambersburg. They are planning to install a webcam so you can observe their progress continually. Stay tuned.

Construction Update - Week of Nov. 19

More and more earth is being moved, as can be seen clearly in these photos, and some of it is being taken away – the large hill with the shovel on top is shrinking as truckloads of earth leave. The trucks are bringing in loads of gravel, which are shown being spread over the sight. The actual building area is starting to look pretty flat now.

Construction Update - Week of Nov. 12

Work has begun on the actual site of the Harmony Ridge West Apartments, Harvey S. Kline Wellness Center, and Community Center Expansion. The amount of construction equipment on site increases daily, and the fence around the site is being installed for everyone’s safety. By the end of the week, all the grass and topsoil has been scraped off of the building site.

Construction Update - Week of Nov. 5

The equipment moved in and went to work immediately at the Harmony Ridge West Apartments and Harvey S. Kline Wellness Center construction site during the week of November 5.

The first task was to prepare the “staging area,” where the Brechbill & Helman Construction Company operations trailer will be located, along with other supporting equipment. Topsoil was stripped from the area and replaced with a gravel foundation.

Across Harmony Drive, on the actual building site, initial preparations began for the grading work needed to level the ground where the 127,000 sq. ft. complex will soon rise.

As more progress is made, photos will be posted here to show this major addition to the Cross Keys landscape coming to fruition. For those who wish to see the work first-hand, the Welcome Center across the street is open from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday thru Friday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays. Call 888-624-8242 for the latest updates on construction and apartment availability.
